hands down na ako kay fedor.. kakapanuod ko lang highlights nya... ang galing boss...

he's too quick for a heavyweight...i think the fight will go the distance...

definitely sylvia is so much slower... pero a good sprawler...

i saw fedor beat up opponents much bigger than tim sylvia... lets just see...

sana may mag live feed ng affliction sa net... ang bigat ng fight card... haha i'l definitely watch it over ufc... kasi ung ufc nabibili sa dvd sa bangketa hehe...

im a fedor fan now hahaha

try mo bossing sa SOPCAST or TVU.. sa MMA-TV na channel..pinapalabas yun dun..tas sa SPIKE na channel UFC naman..

actually couture resigned from the UFC but theres still one fight in his contract.. The UFC will not strip couture of the tile because if they do , couture can freely resigned..

may reklamo kse si couture sa UFC sa pag treat nila sa mga fighters kaya gus2 nya na mag resign sa UFC..tsaka sabi nya gus2 nya labanan si Fedor bago nya tapusina ang career nya..pero since hindi na sign ng UFC si Fedor..aalis na rin si couture..

Kaya hanggang ngayon interim champ pa rin si Nogueira. tsaka may exclusive contract sya sa UFC.. d sya pwede lumaban sa ibang org..

Despite being different sports with different skill sets, the hot button topic of mixed martial arts vs. boxing continues to grow within combat sports fans across the globe. Everyone from fighters to promoters to fans and critics alike have weighed in on the topic, but now the sports have started to bleed together as top boxing trainers have added MMA fighters to their list of clients.

Most MMA fans have seen the familiar hat that follows former Oscar De La Hoya trainer Juanito Ibarra, as he works with prize pupil Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Now MMA fans will meet one of the most sought after boxing trainers in the world on July 19 as revered trainer Freddie Roach will step in to corner former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski for his fight in Affliction against Ben Rothwell.

Roach has trained numerous champions in the sport of boxing including current pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao, as well as his notable appearance as lead trainer for Oscar De La Hoya for his showdown with boxing bad boy Floyd Mayweather in 2007.

Now as Arlovski gets ready to make his debut with Affliction, he has prepared himself by working in Los Angeles with Roach and his camp of fighters and the former UFC champ says that Roach trained him well.

“When I step in the ring with Freddie, he makes me work all the time, every single minute in the round, he makes me work,” said Arlovski. “It’s great because I’m really hungry for boxing technique for knowledge.”

While acknowledging his lack of MMA training skill, Roach has stepped up Arlovski’s boxing to get him ready for this upcoming fight and a possible crossover into professional boxing if the Belarusian decides to make that transition.

“I just teach him boxing like I would any heavyweight that I have,” said trainer Freddie Roach. “He’s a very capable person and the thing is, one thing about Andrei is if I do give him homework he does work on it because the next day I tell him, ‘You must have been practicing in the mirror in your hotel room.’ Because he’s a very dedicated guy, he comes back better the next day already and he’s a good guy to work with.”

Roach says Arlovski’s footwork is most impressive, but he understands that he can’t expect Andrei to be a boxer in the world of MMA.

“The thing is I have to make adjustments a little bit sometimes because obviously you know the stance is different and the distance is different and then that’s the most difficult thing,” Roach stated. “Because sometimes a boxer will get a little bit closer than an MMA fighter will because of the striking with the legs of course. It’s small adjustments, but I’m learning how to make those adjustments.”

His knowledge of boxing is almost unparalleled and Roach has now become a new student watching and studying mixed martial arts. As time goes on, Roach believes the two sports will coincide more often as fans crave the true combat sports.

He also believes we may one day see a prominent boxer make their transition to MMA.

“I could see that happening in the future and I could see the shows being mixed up too,” said Roach. “I think fight fans are fight fans and everyone likes a good fight.”

For the past two years, the UFC has had its sights set on expanding internationally.

The organization has taken some initial steps in that regard by reestablishing the promotion in the United Kingdom and taking the octagon on a trek north to Montreal. The UFC is planning to rack up some additional frequent flyer miles next year, according to a report from Dave Metzler of Yahoo! Sports, a content partner of MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

Australia, Sweden, Italy and the Philippines are on the roadmap for expansion in 2009. UFC boss Dana White likes to say that the UFC—not MMA, but the UFC—will be the biggest sport in the world, bigger than the NFL or World Cup soccer, in the foreseeable future. With the UFC preparing to bring its brand of MMA to virgin territory in Europe and Southeast Asia next year, White’s prediction will officially be on the clock.

Behind the scenes, the UFC is already taking steps to increase its chances for global success. Earlier this year, the UFC sent one of its PR staffers and Brandon Vera on a goodwill tour to the Philippines. The fighter, whose father Ernesto is Filipino, has strong ties to the country.

“When we did an open workout there, about 4,000 people showed up to watch me train at a mall,” said Vera, who has several family members living in the Philippines. “You can take it from there. I speak the language. I get along with everybody well. I understand the people in the Philippines and their struggles. I just keep it real with them, and they love the fact that I’m down. No matter how big or small I am in the fight, I’m going to be fighting, and they love it. I just feed off the energy, so it’s kind of like a cyclical thing with them. As much as they give me, I give it back to them.”

Vera was blown away by the response he received.

“Yeah, about 4,000 people showed up. It was ridiculous,” he said. “The UFC was like, ‘I can’t believe there’s this many people here.’ They said they arranged this in 10 days, and this is how many people showed up.”

Based on the outpouring of interest and support, Vera has no doubt that a UFC show in the Philippines would sell, and he would be the first fighter in line to secure a spot on the fight card.

“Man, to be able to fight in front of my parents’ own country, and have them watch in Araneta Coliseum where the ‘Thrilla in Manila’ took place, that would mean a lot to me,” he said. “I don’t know; that might even mean more than any titles because it’s home, I guess. That’s a super-big deal. If the UFC is down to going to (the Philippines), I’m for sure down.”

Japan is another country that the UFC has in its expansion plans.

On what will unquestionably be remembered as one of mixed martial arts’ saddest days, former UFC middleweight champion Evan Tanner - beloved by fans for his fighting ability and by friends for his free spirit – has passed away at the age of 37.

Tanner, on a camping trip in the Palo Verde mountain area, was found by an Imperial County Sheriff’s Department Deputy on Monday. The cause of death is not known at this time. He had not answered friends’ text messages since last Wednesday, and was officially reported missing on Friday.

On his personal Spike TV web blog, Tanner discussed the trip and how a failure of equipment could be fatal, but in a subsequent blog, he downplayed such fears, writing, “It seems some MMA websites have reported on the story, posting up that I might die out in the desert, or that it might be my greatest opponent yet, etc. Come on guys. It's really common down in southern California to go out to the off road recreation areas in the desert about an hour away from LA and San Diego. So my plan is to go out to the desert, do some camping, ride the motorcycle, and shoot some guns. Sounds like a lot of fun to me. A lot of people do it. This isn't a version of "Into the Wild". I'm not going out into the desert with a pair of shorts and a bowie knife, to try to live off the land. I'm going fully geared up, and I'm planning on having some fun.”

His agent, John Hayner, says that Tanner was excited about the trip and in a good place physically and mentally before his untimely death.

“He was in a good state of mind the last time we spoke,” said Hayner. “Everyone that was around him, and even at the gym he was training at, also said he was in a great state of mind. Living in Oceanside (California), he really liked being on the beach. His house was across from the water, he was in beautiful surroundings.”

If one thing was ever clear about Tanner, it was that he loved life, the outdoors, and adventure.

“He was always planning on going on some sort of adventure,” said Hayner. “And he never needed the finer things or made a fuss about them. He just needed enough for gas, shelter, and training.”

A native of Amarillo, Texas, Tanner worked various jobs as a bouncer, a cable TV contractor, a framer building beach houses, a dishwasher, a baker, a ditch digger, and a slaughterhouse worker before stumbling on to mixed martial arts in 1997.

Over the next 11 years, fighting would be a major part of his life, to the tune of 42 professional bouts, but as he said earlier this year before what would be his final bout against Kendall Grove, he never considered himself a fighter.

“I always thought of myself as the poet, the writer, or the philosopher – I never thought of myself as a fighter,” he chuckled. “But here I am. I always had an idea of the flow of my life, but not exactly what I would be doing day to day. And fighting definitely wasn’t something I thought I’d be doing.”

But he was good at it – very good in fact. Over the course of his career, Tanner (34-8) scored wins over Paul Buentello, Heath Herring, Ikuhisa Minowa, Justin McCully, Elvis Sinosic, Phil Baroni (twice), and Robbie Lawler. His biggest win, however, came at UFC 51 on February 5, 2005, when he stopped David Terrell in the first round to win the UFC middleweight championship.

Tanner would lose the belt to Rich Franklin in his first defense four months later, but the fans never abandoned him, and he returned that admiration, both in person and through his internet blogs.

“I wanted to give something back to the fans and let them know that I’m just a regular guy,” said Tanner in early 2008. “Some of the guys forget that and get caught up in the lights, and I never want to forget that and that I’m one of the lucky ones that got a chance to get out there and do this. There are a lot of great athletes out there, a lot of great fighters that never got the chance. I’m one of the lucky ones that did, so writing the blog and telling life as it is helps me stay grounded and it gives me a way to connect with the fans and give them something back.”

His blogs were more than just fight talk and product advertisements though. Tanner spoke frankly about life and his struggles in and out of the Octagon. And when

he made his return to the UFC in 2008 after almost two years away, it was a triumph of the human spirit and an inspiration, regardless of whose hand was raised at the end of the fight.

“My thought was that I’m in a position where I’ve done some things and some people look up to me a little bit and maybe something in my story can help inspire them or motivate them to get through some things or do something better,” said Tanner before his return against Yushin Okami at UFC 82 in March. “If that’s the case and it helps anybody else out, then it’s worth me facing the embarrassment.”

He fell short in his final two bouts against Okami and Grove, but there was no keeping him down, and his off-time after the Grove bout was filled with more of his adventures, as well as participation in Harley-Davidson’s 105th anniversary celebration.

Sadly, there will be no more adventures, only memories of Evan Tanner.

“Evan was such a unique individual, and he was okay being an individual,” said Hayner. “He was okay with taking the path less traveled, and he often chose that harder path.”

It was simply who he was. Just read the words he spoke to me before I wished him luck for his fight against Grove in June.

“Everything’s been about the journey,” he said. “I never really set out with goals for fighting; it’s been about the adventure along the way. When you’re on your death bed, it’s those stories, those little adventures that are going to be the things that you remember. It’s not so much getting there, but how you got there.”

And he did it his way.

Philippine mixed martial arts fans will surely be in for a treat as Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) pays a visit to Manila on September 21.

Details of the light heavyweight champ's Manila visit have yet to be released.

However, Liddell may treat Filipino MMA enthusiasts to a rare fans' day and media guestings judging from a similar event held for Filipino-American Brandon "The Truth" Vera in April.

The Iceman's most recent fight was against Rashad Evans during "UFC 88: Breakthrough" in Atlanta, Georgia.

Evans won by knocking out Liddell at 1:51 in the second round of their 205-pound light heavyweight battle.

“You can’t fight him going for takedowns all night. That’s the way you get knocked out. I wanted to beat him at his own game,” Evans told UFC's Thomas Gerbasi after the fight that saw him improving his record to 17-0-1.

yes, BJ penn will be a big test for GSP.. penn was a great fighter.. great takedown defense and awsome stand up game... pero GSP is GSP hehehe...

UFC to the Philippines

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has not hidden its desire to expand its brand across the world. The UFC has yet to return to Japan and Brazil, countries that they haven’t been to in many years, but they have recently expanded into Canada, following a strong building process in Northern Ireland and England.

“We're focused on Germany, the Philippines, and Australia next,” UFC president Dana White stated earlier this year. “Germany is what we’re looking at next.”

Some of the speculation about Germany has quieted recently, but don’t be surprised if the promotion announces a date at the O2 World Arena in Berlin sometime soon.

“The Philippines is definitely happening, we're working on that right now, Australia and Germany, those three are right now,” said White.

After UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta and Octagon star Chuck Liddell’s recent publicity junket to the Philippines drew more than 4,000 fans to a one-hour open work featuring Liddell, no one should be surprised that a more strict timeline has been factored into the UFC’s planned expansion for Southeast Asia.

Company projections currently call for a UFC landing in the Philippines sometime in the summer of 2009, according to a report on UFC.com.

“Chuck is a rock star over here,” Fertitta told UFC.com from his stop in the Philippines. “He walks in the hotel and there are people all over him, and then we ended up doing a public training session and over 4,000 people showed up at the Mall of Asia just to see him. It was very interesting, even at times a little bit scary because there were so many people there.”

In some way, the UFC, which already has a broadcast television deal with the ABS-CBN network in the Philippines, has arguably gone more mainstream in Southeast Asia than it has in America.

“When we came to the hotel, we checked in about 6:30 in the morning and there were about 20 photographers waiting for us. Then we held a press conference at nine and there were multiple TV stations and reporters. It’s beyond the imagination. They have a full day of press for us tomorrow, and I’ve got to be honest, I knew that we were growing internationally, but I don’t think I really had an appreciation for the amount of momentum we truly have until I came over here and saw it for myself.”

With Summer 2009 now penciled in on the docket, Fertitta says the UFC is already planning for its first event in the Philippines. Not only will they bring stars like Liddell to Southeast Asia, but just as they did in Canada, England, and Northern Ireland, the UFC plans to use regional fighters in the Octagon.

“It will be a combination of bringing over some of our stars and then hopefully having some local Filipino fighters, and maybe bringing in some of the guys from Japan and South Korea,” said Fertitta.

As many other promotions have fallen to the wayside or are currently struggling financially, the UFC machine only seems into ever-higher gears as the days roll on. With Germany and the Philippines starting to take shape, maybe fans in Australia can start holding their breath.

61 Reaons why PRIDE is better than the UFC

1.We will never see a match like Don Frye vs.Yoshihiro Takayama in the UFC
2.When Vanderlei Silva knocked out Quinton Jackson, he fell on top of the ropes, which prevented him from seriously injuring himself. If he fell on the cage, he would've been seriously hurt.
3.Fighers were paid more in PRIDE.
4.The production value in PRIDE was much greater.
5.There is no SHW division in the UFC, therefore fighters like Mark Hunt will never be in the UFC.

He also holds a win over former UFC champion Dan Savern. :)

the kimbo fight was a joke even in the beginning...he is not really trained and conditioned...his first fight, he fought a guy with a huge cauliflower ear...no brainer...even frank shamrock who was actually supposed to replace ken (but was forbidden by cbs) can submit him with one broken arm...i mean, if they wanted to test him, arlovski was there...why not pit him with arlovski and not with has been or unknown fighters...thats why im glad he was beaten by seth.

tingin ko well trained si kimbo, overhyped lang sya at mejo kapos sa talent.. kahit sinong desenteng MMA fighter ay kaya syang talunin..

61 Reaons why PRIDE is better than the UFC

1.We will never see a match like Don Frye vs.Yoshihiro Takayama in the UFC
2.When Vanderlei Silva knocked out Quinton Jackson, he fell on top of the ropes, which prevented him from seriously injuring himself. If he fell on the cage, he would've been seriously hurt.
3.Fighers were paid more in PRIDE.
4.The production value in PRIDE was much greater.
5.There is no SHW division in the UFC, therefore fighters like Mark Hunt will never be in the UFC.
6.When Takanori Gomi came after Luis Azerado at the end of the match, he apologized and that was the end of that. In the UFC, he would've lost his job and would've been suspended by the NSAC/CSAC.
7.Mark Coleman was able to step on Vanderlei Silva's face in PRIDE without fear of losing his job or being suspended.
8.There is no backstage aura in the UFC. In PRIDE they always got some drama from the backstage or an entertaining pre-fight interview.
9.Soccer Kicks, Foot Stomps and Knees were in PRIDE.
10.PRIDE showcased and created the most name in MMA. Fedor Emelianenko, Takanori Gomi, Shinya Aoki, Antonio Nogueira, Vanderlei Silva, I can go on.

54.Dana White has banned Sherdog from the UFC. Although Sherdog had a mistake, they seem to forget the people who kept MMA alive when it was banned on T.V..
55.Dana White has canceled the UFC in Japan. It's no longer on T.V..
56.Dana White has threatened to sue many fighters instead of working things out with them.
57.In the UFC, if your weight class is lower, your paycheck is also lower.
58.You cannot wear a GI in the UFC.

Im a Fan of UFC, ang gusto kong fighter ngayon sa UFC eh si Anderson Silva, astig kasi sya kung lumaban, d lang puro suntok at sipa ang ginagawa nya.. ginagamit nya kc talaga ang utak nya, napaka verstile fighter pa nya, at higit sa lahat, napaka humble nya! ^^

pero kung ikukumpera nyo ang UFC laban sa PRIdeFC ^^ PRIDEFC n ako kc dun talagang duguan ang laban ^^
